The WINNING Formula
A Daily Formula For Leading A Successful Life
As an entrepreneur, formulas and systems are essential to building a successful company.
We love it when the system works because it’s one less variable to dedicate attention to, that way we can focus on all the other parts of the business.
One of my mentors is a world-renowned mindset coach who’s mentored legendary UFC Fighters, NBA all-stars, NFL celebrities, and many other high performing leaders and business owners.
He taught me this formula:
“Event + Response = Outcome”
Events are all the external circumstances that we don’t always have control over. These are the things that happen to us on a daily basis that cause or trigger a response.
A response is simply how we react. Did I get angry? Do I get flustered easily when this or that happens to me? Out of this three-part formula, our response is the only thing we can control.
The outcome is the result. What was the result of the event happening? What came out of that? What was the end product?
I know this is the super simplified version, but don’t let its simplicity fool you. This formula WORKS! I’ve taught this very same concept to many clients and business partners, and they’ve all gained positive results and an elevated level of self-awareness.
Remember, events and outcomes aren’t always under our control. So don’t worry about those too much, trust me it’ll work out better for you in the long run.
The only variable that we do control is our RESPONSE.
How we choose to react to a certain situation.
How we choose to manage our emotions.
How well we can grab hold of our thoughts before we go down the “rabbit hole”.
Our responses reflect our reality.
The situations and challenges we’re facing today have a direct correlation to how we’ve responded to adversity in the past.
You can’t control the event, and you can’t control the outcome.
The better we learn to manage our thinking and responses, the better quality of life we’ll live moving forward.
In Matthew 12:34, the Bible says, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.”
So let me ask you:
What’s coming out of your mouth?
What does that show you about what’s in your heart?
What language do you use when you’re angry or frustrated?
How do you speak to yourself when you’re in a certain mood?
Whatever your heart is full of will have a direct impact on how you see life, and how you RESPOND to adversity.
If you’re angry, bitter, pissed off about life, I can guarantee you’re more likely to have a negative response. And that negative response is just going to continue leading you down a path towards negative results.
But if your heart is filled with love, joy, grace, gratitude; I can guarantee you see life with more hope. You’ll see life with more potential and awe.
Don’t get it wrong, we’ll all have our bad days. There will be times when we’ll get triggered and feel like our responses are out of our own hands, but that’s a lie. Crap will happen, but our response is always a choice.
Yes, we’ll slip from time to time. But that’s the beauty of God’s grace. We’re not called to be perfect, but we should strive to be BETTER.
I know I probably went a little deeper into this than I had initially hoped, but when you’re in the zone you just keep going!
Here’s something to think about for the rest of the week:
How do I respond to adversity and what’s that revealing about my character?
What gets me the most triggered? How can I implement a pre-determined response, for those moments I feel out of control?
How can I change my heart today? How can I experience more love, joy, peace, and gratitude RIGHT NOW?
I pray that God speaks to YOU in the best way you’ll listen.
I pray that He change our hearts so that we can experience His grace and love. I don’t know your history and I don’t know your story, but God does. And even when we screw up time and time again, He’s always welcoming us home with open arms.
Thank you guys for supporting and helping grow this content.
I don’t do this to glorify myself, but rather be a living example of how God transforms our tests into our testimonies.
In my 33 short years on this Earth, I’ve lived a lot of life.
I’ve seen and experienced things most only see in the movies, but even through the darkness God was still able to help me find my way back to the light.
Thank you guys, love ya’ll.
