The Door You Almost Walked Past
Moments of Missed Opportunities
There are moments God sets up that don’t look like moments.
They look like interruptions. Inconveniences. A stranger who takes too long. A conversation that wasn’t on your calendar. A detour you didn’t plan for.
And most men miss them, not because they’re bad men, but because they’re busy men.
Heads down. Locked in. Moving fast.
I’ve been that man. So consumed with building the vision that I walked right past the person the vision was built for. That’s the trap no one warns you about. You can be so focused on your assignment that you become unavailable for it.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
God doesn’t always call you to a stage. Sometimes He calls you to a parking lot. A barbershop. A sideline at your kid’s game. A moment with a man who looks fine but is one conversation away from quitting.
The question isn’t just WHAT God is calling you to… It’s WHO He’s placing in front of you. Right now, today, in the middle of your ordinary.
Are you present enough to notice?
Or are you so locked into the future that you’re unavailable in the present?
Missed opportunities don’t always feel like loss. Sometimes they just feel like a normal Monday.
And that’s what makes them so dangerous.
The man you were supposed to speak life into… you passed him.
The conversation that could have changed everything… you were on your phone.
The door God opened… you walked right by it because it didn’t look like what you expected.
Availability is a spiritual discipline. Slow down. Look up. Stay open.
Because God is still writing the story, and some of the most important chapters won’t announce themselves.
They’ll just show up. And He’ll be watching to see if you’re awake enough to answer.
