#1: Why This, Why Now?
To make a long story short, I’m not quite sure why or how this happened. I wish I had some solid, concrete evidence, as to why I felt led to get back into writing. Especially when I’ve recently stepped away from growing businesses and a top ranked podcast show, yet I still felt “stuck”.
I guess the best way to describe this season in my life in one word, is exploration.
But I’ll share more of my story on a later episode, because this isn’t about me. It’s really about you. Or more specifically, it’s about ME trying to teach and share my successes and failures so YOU don’t have to suffer for as long as I did.
Listen, this world will demand a version of you that you may not like. In your head, you’ll negotiate with yourself trying to convince that voice in your subconscious that “It is what it is” or my personal favorite “This is for my family”. Your reasoning may have some truth in it, your intentions might truly be to provide for you family, but at what cost?
Because whatever it is that you say you want, it’s going to cost you something. It’s easy when it’s monetary, that cost is simple to quantify.
“I give you X amount of dollars, and you give me Y and Z.”
See how simple that was?
The true challenge comes when the costs are immeasurable.
Time with your family.
The relationship between you and your children.
Memories with your aging parents.
Your marriage.
Your identity.
Your TIME.
You can’t measure these. The worst part is that you usually don’t know how much you have left, until it’s too late.
My goal for this content is to teach. To share my many experiences in life, business, health, wealth, relationships, legacy, leadership, performance, etc. and give you the tools you’ll need in this next phase of your life.
Listen, if you’re completely and 100% happy with where you’re at in life. You’re fulfilled, your relationships are top notch, your subordinates love you, your kids cherish you, your wife can’t keep her hands off of you, and the world just happens to eat from the palm of your hands….
…Well first off, let’s be friends! What’s your social media so I can start learning how you did it ASAP!
But seriously, if your life is squared away and you don’t see yourself needing or wanting to make any changes then let me say “Thank you” now and you can stop reading from here.
My content won’t be for you, and that’s okay too. I wish you the best, and if you’re really in that place in life then I’m challenging you to share some of that knowledge and experience with the rest of the world.
The world can be a dark and lonely place, we need more leaders who’ve been fortunate enough to navigate through it all to turn around and help those with eyes to see and ears to hear.
My mom always said, “You guys are blessed, so be a blessing to others.”
Oh, and that’s another thing, thanks for reminding me!
I’m a big believer, my faith has been my cornerstone in life. Even when I completely walked away from God during my time in law enforcement, He never stopped loving me. I’ve disappointed Him and failed Him many times in the past, yet I’ve never managed to evade His forgiveness and grace.
So even if you’re not a Christian, or even if you’re not a believer of any sort of faith or religion, I want to encourage you to stick around and keep reading. Don’t immediately shut off and default to your typical response when someone with a different point of view is trying to share something with you.
We can learn from ANYBODY.
Yes, ANYBODY!
Your experiences and stories differ from mine, and if we take the time to pause and be open, we’ll realize how much we can learn from each other.
Needless to say, I write how I speak. Like literally, I am speaking out these exact words as I type them out.
Why, because I’m weird? Maybe a little.
But more importantly because I want you to authentically connect with me. Yes, I’m a believer, but I also cuss from time to time. Not making any excuses for it, but that’s how it is right now. I’m not trying to be anyone else but me, and hopefully that’s interesting enough to keep you around for a bit to learn something.
I know I’m far from perfect, but I strive to be the best husband, father, brother, son, business partner, mentor, and leader that I can be.
I’ve learned to fall in love with the process. To embrace the never ending journey of personal development.
I want you to experience this like a conversation between two friends going for a walk and talking about LIFE.
I think that would be really cool to do. To go beyond just reading, but actually EXPERIENCING.
Intro…check.
Profound ending…check
“Make them hear my voice”…check
Looks like we’re all checked off and ready to go!
Lace em up, let’s go for a walk.
